EVENT SIX WRAP UP
Round Six is in the books, and it was another fantastic month! Heading into this round, I expected it to be a tough one, thinking scores might be on the lower side. But you all proved me wrong! The 40 players who competed averaged just over 32 points, a shot and a half better than any other month so far!
Further proof of your impressive performances is shown by the fact that 30% of competitors (12) shot at or better than their handicaps. As you'll see even with so many solid rounds, two players truly stole the show. So without further ado, here are the highs and lows from Round 6 at Eagle Ridge:
Monthly Winner:
TOM BAILEY (10): this is a powerful response from Tom after his performance at Yarrawonga, which earned him a spot in the NAGA Vests Hall of Fame, aka the Deckchairs. With this win, Tom becomes the first player in PGAC history to claim multiple monthly victories, following up his previous win at The Dunes.
Monthly Runner Up:
CALLUM COLLIER (46): after a recent 18 points at The National, it was great to see Cal put together a brilliant round, scoring 41 points. He narrowly lost on a countback to our winner’s incredible back nine performance.
Top Performances:
Best Front 9:
CALLUM COLLIER (46): delivered an outstanding 22 points, even with a swipe, finishing strong with a 4-point par on the Par 5 9th hole. It seems those lessons are paying off, and that handicap will be heading south soon!
Best Back 9:
TOM BAILEY (10): started his back nine with a double bogey for just 1 point, but then caught fire, scoring a staggering 23 points over the next 8 holes for a total of 24 points! Special mention to Lavery—23 points usually wins Best Nine!
Best Gross Score:
TOM BAILEY (10): After a double bogey on the 10th, Tom was 6-over, but he played the final 8 holes in one under par, finishing with an impressive 5-over 77 off the stick. A fantastic round! Tom is now just our third monthly Best Gross winner, with the two previous winners snapping at Toms heels this month Reece (80) and Fleming (81).
This month's unfortunate NAGA points recipients were:
Round 6 NAGA Points:

• STEPHEN OAKES & JAVIER VEGA-SANGUESA: 5 Points
• DAVE LLEWELLYN: 4 Points
• SEAN DWYER: 3 Points
• CHRIS GRUNDY & RYAN BENNETT: 2 Points
• TRAV JONES & MATT MCDONALD: 1 Point each
Huge personal shout out to Ryan, Chris and Dave who's last day misfortunes prevented yours truly from receiving my first NAGA points, Thanks lads!!!
MONTHLY AWARDS:
TINDER AWARD
The player/s with the most swipes on their scorecard.
☆ JAVIER VEGA-SANGUESA ☆ - 8 Swipes
GATTUSO AWARD
Awarded to the player with the greatest variance between their front and back nines. This accolade pays tribute to the passionate Italian football coach/player Gennaro Gattuso and his truly descriptive quote surrounding his teams performance. This 5 second YouTube video is a must see to truly understand the Gattuso Award:

☆ LUKE HARRINGTON & KANE GROSE ☆ - 9 Point Difference (12 & 21 for Luke, 19 & 10 for Kane)
YOUR NO STEVE RYAN AWARD
☆ MARK SHUTER ☆
If you read his round recap you'll know this brutal tale where for a few beautiful moments Shuter thought he had his first Hole in One! To be fair Shuter needs to visit this awards sponsors so it was his random playing partners fault telling him that his 8 iron shot on the signature 6th hole had landed past the hole and spun back disappearing into hole. After some adrenaline filled celebrations on the tee box they would unfortunately find it about 8 foot from the hole in small dip that had hidden it from view! Unlucky Shuter but your wallet is better off as a small upside!
BLUES BROTHERS AWARD
Awarded to the gentleman whom decided the white tees that our competition was off were too easy and instead played their entire rounds off the longer blue tees. Considering the extra challenge they all played very tidy golf scoring really well with their blue handicaps. Unfortunately the rules of our competition mean that their scores gets adjusted back to what they would have scored with their white tees handicap seeing all of them lose three points throwing one of them back into the NAGA points.
☆ DYLAN HALL, TRAV QUIRK & CHRIS GRUNDY ☆
Hard luck gents, good news though it's Blue Tees at Flinders!!
ELDER ABUSE AWARD
☆ STEPHEN OAKES ☆
Awarded for his attempted murder on the short par 4 13th Hole. As you can imagine given his place in the NAGA points it wasn't Stephen's great day on a golf course with his driver really struggling. So with a 6-ball (I wish I was joking) of elderly women on the green 270m away it felt more than safe when I told him to swing away. However, seemingly motivated by the slow-moving octogenarian targets on the green Oaksy smoked his drive straight at them. Narrowly missing Doris on the full crashing into the front of the green before rolling up to pin high past Betty and Magaret! Needless to say their pace of play increased dramatically from that point on! Stephen's birdie for 4 points would unfortunately be his biggest highlight and 20% of his total round score.
PARIS RAHM AWARD
Awarded in honour of the 2023 Masters Champions horrific bedshitting at the Paris Olympics. Whether it's botching the final few holes, squandering a home-course advantage, or struggling in ideal golfing conditions, there are countless ways for players to earn this less than prestigious honor. This months winner really did his best to replicate Rahms final Olympic round finish.
Walking off the 11th green sitting a couple of shots better than his handicap and looking on track for an easy Top 5 finish minimum. His final seven holes did not go to plan with no less than 4 swipes and a poultry 5 points to limp home finishing the month 32nd a mere point out of the NAGA points.
This month's Paris Rahm recipient is none other than everyone's favourite Acting STM:
☆KANE GROSS☆
Congratulate and make him aware of his achievement when you see him around!
Thats the Round 6 wrap up, see you at Flinders for Round 7.
