EVENT TWO WRAP UP
The second month of the PGAC 24/25 season has now concluded, and it was fantastic to see the sustained enthusiasm for the competition. A total of 51 players took on the challenging layout of RACV Cape Schanck, and it’s fair to say the course got the better of us all.
Out of the 51 competitors, only one managed to surpass their handicap, with an average Stableford score of 27.5 for the month—3 points lower than our efforts at Bay Views. While there were many low points, there were also some notable highlights.
Monthly Winner:
CARL ATTWOOD (15) claimed victory with 39 points, dominating the field with a comfortable 5-shot lead. Minimal golf and lack of sleep do wonders for Carl's game. Since the arrival of his young one, Carl has finished 4th and 1st in the PGAC, demonstrating impressive form.
Monthly Runner Up:
CAM ASKER (13) scored 34 points, securing runner-up by countback over Danny Knight. Great effort, Cam, especially considering your putter was ice-cold this round!
Top Performances:
Best Front 9:
SPYKE MILLICAN (12) and DAVE LLWELLYN (22) with impressive 21 points. Extra credit to Dave as his front nine score was 5 shots better than his entire Bay Views round! .
Best Back 9:
CARL ATTWOOD (15) scored 19 points, and for the second month in a row showed himself to be a Back Nine specialist
Best Gross Score:
REECE TWYFORD (7) & MATT MCDONALD (4) both carded commendable 81's.
While the top of the leaderboard saw little competition, the bottom was a heated contest. This month's unfortunate NAGA points recipients were:
Round 2 NAGA Points:
• PETE LINCOLN: 5 Points
• BRENTON MAY: 4 Points
• JAVIER VEGA-SANGUESA: 3 Points
• CHRIS GRUNDY: 2 Points
• TOM BAILEY, BRETT HOGAN, PAUL STREET, STEVE RYAN & MICHAEL LEIGH: 1 Point each
Special mention to MICHAEL LEIGH for his second consecutive round in the NAGA points. Unlucky, mate. Ranfurlie has similarities to your home track, so we're expecting you to easily avoid the unwanted hat trick.
MONTHLY AWARDS:
TINDER AWARD
The player/s with the most swipes on their scorecard.
☆PETE LINCOLN☆ - 11 Swipes (Not a typo, sorry Pete)
Special mention to the May 16th group, who collectively racked up an impressive total of 63 swipes among the 12 of them. Big thanks to Hogan for pointing out that little statistical gem!
GATTUSO AWARD
Awarded to the player with the greatest variance between their front and back nines. This accolade pays tribute to the passionate Italian football coach/player Gennaro Gattuso and his truly descriptive quote surrounding his teams performance. This 5 second YouTube video is a must see to truly understand the Gattuso Award:

☆SPYKE MILLICAN☆ - 11 Point Differential (21 Front 10 Back)
BRICK TAMLAND AWARD
Awarded to those who endured the most challenging weather conditions of the month for their round.
☆ SEB DRAGA & LUKE EVANS ☆ may the weather gods smile upon you this month, gentlemen!
OTHER THAN ATTWOOD AWARD
This month, Carl's golf game was unbeatable, and his dress style is always unmatched. In honour of our Monthly winner and to inspire us to look good even if we can't play well, we introduce the first "Other Than Attwood" Award, given to the second best-dressed player/s of the month.
Simple decision this month with the OTA Award going to four players whom hit the Schanck in true style!! (If you missed the post check out the attached picture).
☆ CAM ASKER, ANDREW CESTER, MATT MCDONALD & TROY MALONE☆
MITO PEREIRA AWARD
Bestowed upon the player who falters when victory seems within reach. Named in honor of the Chilean rookie who famously squandered a chance to win the 2022 PGA Championship when he shit the bed on the 18th with a double bogey.
☆RYAN LAVERY☆
Ryan stepped onto the 11th tee box playing to his handicap with 20 points. He then tore the Schanck apart with four consecutive pars, each worth 3 points, bringing him to the 15th tee with tasty 32 points—four better than his handicap.
Unfortunately, Ryan went full Mito Pereira, swiping the last four holes to finish 8th for the month with 32 points—a score that could have been so much higher. Unlucky mate and sorry to make you relive it!!
That’s the wrap up for Round 2 of the PGAC at RACV Cape Schanck. Here’s hoping Ranfurlie brings us all better scores!
