EVENT ONE WRAP UP
The inaugural month of the PGAC has concluded, and it's safe to say its been a resounding success. With 50 participants teeing off on Bay Views' challenging fairways and greens, it marked an exceptional start to the competition. Despite our unique competition format spread across the month, the ultimate winner was only truly decided on the 18th hole of the final round, you couldn't script it better.
Among the 50 competitors, eight managed to play at handicap or better, with an average stableford score of 30.5 for the month. There was a mix of stellar and not-so-stellar performances on display. Let's delve into the highlights:
Monthly Winner:
FINN JONES claimed victory with 40 points, achieving his personal best off the stick score of 84. Congratulations on becoming the first-ever PGAC Monthly winner! Certainly a long way from your old mans first few golf trip performances which earned him the nickname NAGA Jones.
Monthly Runner Up:
ROHAN MOSTERT scored 40 points losing only on a countback, displaying a remarkable turnaround after enduring a rough patch and taking a 5 week hiatus from golf before his round.
Top Performances:
Best Front 9:
CONOR WINCHESTER (18) with an impressive 23 points.
Best Back 9:
CARL ATTWOOD (13) scored 22 points, with a wipe more on this later!
Best Gross Score:
REECE TWYFORD (3) & ROBBIE GREENWOOD (9) both carded a commendable 78.
Now, onto the less fortunate outcomes. Just as we celebrate success, we also want to acknowledge those who faced significant challenges equally. To truly do so we are introducing a season-long scoreboard for the NAGA (Not A Golfers Asshole) award which will have its very own special place in our competition. The bottom five scores, including ties, will earn NAGA points, with the unfortunate season leader receiving a "special" prize for the final championship round.
This month's NAGA points recipients were:
• DAVE LLEWELLYN: 5 Points
• TRAV QUIRK: 4 Points
• MICHAEL LEIGH: 3 Points
• CALLUM COLLIER: 2 Points
• KANE GROSE & CONNOR PHELAN: 1 Point each
Unlucky, Gentleman I have full confidence that you will all rally this month and find yourselves no where near the NAGA points
Finally, we have some random monthly awards to finish off the monthly wrap up:
TINDER AWARD
The player/s with the most swipes on their scorecard.
☆DAVE LLEWELLYN & CALLUM COLLIER☆ - 7 Swipes
GATTUSO AWARD
Awarded to the player with the greatest variance between their front and back nines. This accolade pays tribute to the passionate Italian football coach/player Gennaro Gattuso and his truly descriptive quote surrounding his teams performance. This 5 second YouTube video is a must see to truly understand the Gattuso Award:

☆CONOR WINCHESTER☆ - 10 Point Differential (23 Front 13 Back)
LIQUID LUNCH AWARD
☆ANDREW CESC☆ - After a challenging 18 holes at Bay Views, Cesc sought solace in the clubhouse with a couple of brews before returning to play another nine. While the effects of beer on one's swing remain largely unexplored, it undeniably worked wonders for him, as he achieved an astonishing 24 points over the 9 holes, sadly only 2 shy of his earlier 18-hole total that mattered.
MITO PEREIRA AWARD
Bestowed upon the player who falters when victory seems within reach. Named in honor of the Chilean rookie who famously squandered a chance to win the 2022 PGA Championship when he shit the bed on the 18th with a double bogey.
Before we announce the winner a couple of special mentions:
PAUL STREET - After an impressive start, Paul found himself on the 14th tee with 31 points, a remarkable 5 points above his handicap. Unfortunately, a poorly timed phone call during his backswing led to a wayward drive, and he never fully recovered mentally, resulting in 3 swipes in his last 5 holes, finishing 10th overall.
CARL ATTWOOD - Despite a shaky beginning, Carl rallied with 26 points from holes 9 through 17, positioning himself at 37 points on the 18th tee. A par would have secured him 40 points and an unbeatable countback tally. However, in true fashion reminiscent of Mito, he marked the 18th hole and finished 4th overall.
While several contenders vied for these awards, there could only be one winner of our first monthly MITO PEREIRA AWARD:
☆ROHAN MOSTERT☆
This month's runner-up stood on the 18th tee with an impressive 39 points. With a handicap of 20 granting him 2 shots on the hole, a double bogey 6 would have clinched him victory with 41 points. However, as fate would have it, Mostert's tee shot landed behind a tree, leading to a series of unfortunate shots and ultimately settling for a 7 and 1 point, leaving him in second place after a countback.
